Presented by Staller Center for the Arts & Stony Brook University

(RIVERHEAD, NY, June 22, 2016) – The East End Arts School is proud to announce a special FREE program open to all children of 3 – 5 years of age: Instrument Petting Zoo on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the East End Arts School in Riverhead. Children are invited to explore different string and wind instruments: bow a violin, slide a trombone, blow through a recorder, and even wave arms to make sounds on a Theremin! The East End Arts School is located at 141 E. Main Street, Riverhead, NY 11901. This program is presented by the Staller Center for the Arts & Stony Brook University. Also at this event, families are invited to learn about a new music program to begin in the Fall of 2016 at the East End Arts School: MUSIKGARTEN which will offer:
• Sing with Me for Toddlers (18 mos. - 4 years)
• Family Music for Babies (0-18 mos.)

Advance registration is preferred; for more information and to register, visit

During this 40-minute interactive presentation, children ages 3 – 5 get the chance to listen and play real instruments from the orchestra! During the first half of this program, professional musicians from Stony Brook University Department of Music demonstrate various instruments and discuss how each sound is made and how they are different from each other. During the second half of this program, children will have the opportunity to touch and play the instruments themselves! Children are free to ask questions and everyone leaves with a musical gift. Funding provided by Staller Center's Endowment for the Arts.

Since 1995, the East End Arts School has offered visual art classes for children and adults, as well as music instruction in group and private settings for voice, piano, drums, violin, guitar, and band and orchestral instruments, with 200 students studying privately each semester. Scholarship opportunities are available. For more information about private music instruction, visit http://www.eastendarts.org/school/private.html.
