Emergency Funds for Artists

WomenArts is a worldwide community of artists and allies that works for empowerment, opportunity, and visibility for women artists. We provide a variety of free online networking, fundraising and advocacy services, and we organize Support Women Artists Now Day (SWAN Day), an annual international holiday celebrating women's creativity in all its forms. Their website provides an excellent list of emergency resources for artists of all disciplines (and genders!)

Regional Opportunities for Artists

Artists, Visual & Performing: Emergency Grants Program, Sponsored by the Foundation for Contemporary Arts will have a workshop about the program which artists working in all disciplines who have sudden opportunities or unexpected expenses associated with presenting work to the public. the Center for Performance Research at 361 Manhattan Avenue, Brooklyn, from 6 to 8 p.m. A half-hour presentation on the program will be followed by an open Q&A session. Artists in All Media: Special Opportunity Stipends (SOS) available with May 25, 2010 deadlines. Project developed by the New York Foundation for the Arts to assist individual artists in work or career development, made possible with public funds from NYSCA, as well as contributions from private foundations and friends of New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). SOS administered on Long Island by the East End Arts Council under a consortium agreement with the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts, the Huntington Arts Council, the Islip Arts Council, the Smithtown Township Arts Council, the Council for the Arts on the North Shore, the Long Beach Arts Council, and the Long Island Council for the Arts at Freeport. Applications available from these arts councils, and at www.nyfa.org.

The Northport Community Orchestra seeks new members in all sections. We are a diverse group, including both music professionals and those for whom music is a joyful avocation. Our repertoire ranges from Baroque through Classical and Romantic to early twentieth century. We perform several times a year on our own and accompany the Northport Chorale in their annual Christmas concert. Our Music Director, Richard Hyman, is an award winning music educator and composer.
