Regional Opportunities for Artists

Photographers, Graphic Designers: Salmagundi Club seeks entries for Annual Open Non-Member Photography & Graphics Juried Exhibition June 28-July 9, 2010 in NYC. Download prospectus at www.salmagundi.org. Deadline March 25, 2010.

Artists: Studio East Gallery seeking entries for "Floral & Automobiles" exhibit, April 6-30, 2010. Receiving dates: March 25-27 at two locations, see www.studioeastgallery.com for specifics.

Artists: The Friends of Fire Island National Seashore seeking artists for "The Essence of Fire Island" contest and exhibition. Approximately 30 semi-finalists will exhibit artwork at newly-built Patchogue Ferry Terminal, and 18 winners will have their work appear in 2010-2011 18-month calendar. Performing Artists (except dancers): Auditions for the second annual "Got Talent, Long Island?" being held March 27 and April 10 from 2-4 p.m. at the Huntington School of Performing Arts, 310 New York Ave., Huntington. Fine Artists: As part of its 90th Anniversary Celebration, The Heckscher Museum of Art is presenting its inaugural Long Island Biennial featuring artworks by professional artists who live in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Show runs from July 31 - September 26, 2010. Accepted media include paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs and mixed media. Deadline: March 31, 2010. The Heckscher Museum will display submitted entries on its Website Long Island Biennial Gallery. Sculptors: Peconic Landing and the East End Arts Council announce a juried Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition at Brecknock Hall July 1 through September 11, 2010 in Greenport, NY. Artists in All Media: Special Opportunity Stipends (SOS) available with May 25, 2010 deadlines. Project developed by the New York Foundation for the Arts to assist individual artists in work or career development, made possible with public funds from NYSCA, as well as contributions from private foundations and friends of New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). SOS administered on Long Island by the East End Arts Council under a consortium agreement with the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts, the Huntington Arts Council, the Islip Arts Council, the Smithtown Township Arts Council, the Council for the Arts on the North Shore, the Long Beach Arts Council, and the Long Island Council for the Arts at Freeport. The Northport Community Orchestra seeks new members in all sections. We are a diverse group, including both music professionals and those for whom music is a joyful avocation. Our repertoire ranges from Baroque through Classical and Romantic to early twentieth century. We perform several times a year on our own and accompany the Northport Chorale in their annual Christmas concert. Our Music Director, Richard Hyman, is an award winning music educator and composer.
