Rosamaria Eisler

Artist Statement from Rosamaria Eisler
My works are the result of my daily experiences, emotions and observations. Most of my prints depict imaginary places and figures with umbrellas, here and there. My works relates to figures passing through a transient world, a changing life, transforming, leaving partners, places, always looking for something more peaceful, surrounded by an ethereal atmosphere. I continue my journey in life creating with passion, experimenting, breaking the rules, always integrating my ideas in order to create a meaningful work of art.

During her time in residence at East End Arts, Eisler will be instructing five different printmaking workshops:

  • Introduction to the Printmaking Press (a printmaking press certification course):
    Saturday, September 17 and
    Tuesday, November 1
  • Relief Printmaking with Linocuts:
    Saturday, October 1
  • Color Reducation Prints:

Artist-in-Residence
Rosamaria Eisler

September 12 - December 4, 2011

East End Arts is proud to announce the latest Artist-in-Residence: Rosamaria Eisler. A renowned printmaker, Eisler assumed the post of Artist-in-Residence on Monday, September 12, 2011 and will be in the position through December 4, 2011. East End Arts’ Artist-in-Residence program, started in 2008, is designed to bring established and emerging artists of all disciplines to the East End to showcase their work, and provides opportunities for the community to learn from the artist through exhibitions, lectures, and workshops. The Artist-in-Residence program provides studio space and housing during the residency at the historic Corwin Carriage House on the East End Arts grounds in Riverhead, NY.

Rosamaria Eisler became a member of East End Arts 15 years ago, primarily involved in the capacity of an artist. In 2001 her involvement expanded to also being a volunteer, in any and all capacities, and in 2010 she was named Volunteer of the Year. In June 2010, Eisler got one more step involved by becoming a member of the faculty at the East End Arts School with the arrival of the printing press, donated by East End Arts founder, the late Bob Berks. Eisler was in charge of the cleaning and installation of the printing press, and has been the printing-press facilitator and head of the printing department at the East End Arts School ever since. Since the installation of the printing press, more than 40 member-students have been print-certified, which allows access to the printing press. In 2009 through East End Arts, Eisler was one of the twelve Long Island Artists selected to attend the MARK 09 Program from the New York Foundation of the Arts, a selective and intensive program where participants benefit from a rigorous blend of formal classes, individualized training, networking and group interaction, a unique opportunity for individualized focus on the professional and business side of their creative practice. Rosamaria Eisler states “East End Arts is one of the best arts councils, and has really allowed me to explore my art and has provided opportunities I wouldn’t have had otherwise.”

Rosamaria Eisler will open her East End Arts’ studio space to the public every Tuesday during her residency, from noon to 4PM. At this time, the public is invited to visit Eisler while she is at work in the printing studio, located in the East End Arts Carriage House, located behind the East End Arts Gallery, 133 East Main Street, Riverhead NY.

To culminate her residency, Eisler will be the featured speaker at the East End Arts’ First Fridays Arts Talk series on Friday, December 2 at 6PM in the East End Arts Carriage House. At this presentation, Rosamaria will discuss the work she accomplished during her residency, including artist books and prints, as well as printmaking techniques. First Fridays events are free to attend and open to the public, and are held the first Friday of every month, each month featuring a different arts-related guest speaker and topic.
