Renaissance Kid is a two-week program where campers are introduced to a broad range of artistic and creative experiences through a camp-wide theme.
This summer we're hitching up the wagons and heading out on the trail to the wild, wild west. On the way we'll learn about Native American culture and art, as well as what it was like to be a pioneer, we'll sing cowboy and railroad songs; do some square dancing, tell some tall tales, and much, much more. Each day includes visual arts with painting, sculpting and craft activities, music where campers sing, dance and try musical instruments, and theatre, which includes stories, puppetry, role playing, character creation and other dramatic play activities.
The School of the Arts offers a home-like setting with comfortable air-conditioned rooms and fenced-in park-like grounds for outdoor play. Small group sizes provide for a comfortable camp experience with lots of personal attention.
Early morning care is available between 8:30-9:30AM, and after care between 3:00-5:00PM. After care consists of modified camp activities. Camp ends with a pot-luck lunch for campers, staff and families. Hours for last day are 9:30AM-1PM.

FINE ARTS CAMP - SEEING AS AN ARTIST SEES - Five days of everything art - sculpture, drawing, painting and more. Focus will be on the process of creating, experiencing diverse mediums and finding your inner artist. Included will be instruction on drawing and painting techniques, a visit by a professional artist for inspiration as well as a tour of the EEAC Gallery. The week will end with an art show for family and friends.
THEATRE CAMP - LIVING ON STAGE - A week-long exploration of the fundamentals of theatrical performance, focusing on honesty (being a believable actor!), spontaneity, physicality and theatrical risk taking through a fun format of improv games and ensemble building exercises that will include stage combat, dialect work, miming and even juggling, all drawn from the instructor's experience as a professional theatre actor and circus performer.
JAZZ/ROCK/BLUES/POP CAMP - Young guitarists, bass players, drummers, horn, woodwind, piano players and even violinists can attend this intensive music program where even music theory becomes fun! All instruction is hands-on in the master class format, where kids will learn as they play and play as they learn. By being part of a "group" (3-5 musicians) as well as a "Big Band", campers will gain an understanding of each others' instruments, a skill necessary for any well-rounded musician. Campers will learn to understand rhythm and dynamics, the techniques of improvisation, song writing and composition skills. Included is an introduction to the EEAC Recording Studio where they'll make a CD of their work. Campers will demonstrate their newly learned skills in a performance for family and friends on the last day of camp. A minimum 1-2 years experience on instrument recommended.
