Dear Friends,
Whether you are a working artist or an emerging artist, a music student or a performing musician, a passionate arts supporter or an occasional appreciator of the arts, you are the East End Arts Council. Whether you express your art through teaching or performing, you are the East End Arts Council. Whether you use a paintbrush, a baton, a pen, or a drum, you are the East End Arts Council. EEAC is an important part of your lives, but do you realize that you - our audience, performers, artists, and supporters are the reason we exist? You truly are the East Ends Arts Council. Everyday, my staff and Board of Directors works to our mission of bringing the arts to everyone. Notes we receive from you let us know we are having success. Every now and then I go through our book of testimonials for a bit of encouragement and I find messages like:

It is gratifying to know we are serving you well. It is important for us to be able to continue to do so, and this is where I need to ask you for your help. The economy has challenged our ability to bring you the programs you expect of us. We are faced with decreased government and corporate support, as well as decreases in other funding streams. Our membership and class fees account for only a portion of what we ultimately need to sustain our ongoing program. We have been able to compensate for this downturn by cutting expenses, but since we've always worked on a tight budget, there simply isn't anymore cutting that can be done.
I join my Board of Directors in asking for your support. From March through August 2010, the East End Arts Council is running a fund drive. Can you help us? If you are already a member, would you consider giving an additional amount? We are asking you to think about the importance of the East End Arts Council in your life. If you can answer by saying "Yes, I am the East End Arts Council", we ask you to make a contribution. Our goal is to raise $100,000, an amount which will stabilize the organization and help us to continue the programs we are so proud of and you depend on. I have no doubt in my mind that we will get through this financial hurdle with help from friends like you.
