In an effort to bolster and showcase all artistic endeavors, the East End Arts Council has embarked upon an initiative to include poetry in its juried mixed-media exhibitions. The Council has called upon highly qualified, published poets to jury submitted poetry according to the high standards we apply to all artistic media. This panel includes George Wallace, Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan, Gladys Henderson, and Walter E. Harris, aka. Mankh. To learn more about these poets or to see samples of their work, click here. There will be a first place awarded for each show. Winning poems will be read by his/her author at the opening and the author will be invited to read several of his or her poems at a special poetry winners event in the fall of 2007.
How to enter your poetry:
• Entries must be on letter-sized paper no longer than one page typed at 10 point Helvetica (minimum).
• Do not put your name on the poem. Name, Title of Show, Title of Poem, Address, Town, Email and Phone Number go on a separate sheet.
• Make 5 copies of each poem.
• There is a $5.00 entry fee ($10.00 for non-members) per poem.
• Mail poems, title sheets and fees to the gallery, unfolded, in a 9x12 envelope in time to arrive the day before the earliest artwork drop-off date of the show for which you are submitting your work. For drop-off dates, see the prospectus under “Call for Artists.”
