Director of Development


The Development Director reports to East End Arts’ Executive Director and is responsible for creating, leading and implementing an annual development plan in coordination with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

Major responsibilities include:


Cultivate and steward new and existing foundation, corporate and individual donors

Secure corporate sponsorships for events: design benefit packages for each program, manage new lead generation, outreach, and delivery of sponsorship benefits

Individual giving: draft communications and cultivate relationships; develop major gifts and planned giving programs

Grants: Research, Identify and Apply for grants.

Special Events: draft/proof marketing materials including e-blasts, advertising and social media with support from the graphic artist

Establish and foster community connections and collaborations


Plan and implement development department goals

Devise budgets for special events, event sponsorship, individual giving, and grants

Participate in organization-wide strategic planning and work with ED and BOD to align development goals with strategic planning

Draft agenda in coordination with Development committee chair, attend monthly meetings, track activities, maintain communication, and draft minutes for the Development Committee

Draft agenda in coordination with Gala committee chair, attend monthly meetings, track activities, maintain communication, and draft minutes for the Gala Committee; oversee Auction Committee

Collaborate with ED and BOD on Board development

Oversee Events workflow and ensure quality control of events including mailing list selection and mailings

Meet regularly with Executive Director, Education Director, Marketing Manager and Graphic Artist

Plan and manage fundraising communications including social media in coordination with the Marketing Manager

Draft letters, communications, appeals and e-blasts for review with the Executive Director

Oversee tracking and database entry of membership in coordination with the Membership Manager

CRM database management:

Identify CRM needs and system requirements. Develop and maintain a CRM database.

Billing/invoicing: draft communications and track pledges of sponsors, advertisers and donors

Gift acknowledgement: draft letters and oversee mailings

Select mailing lists for events and targeted mailings

Oversee collection and importing of contacts into the database

Required Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial fundraiser, tireless networker, have exceptional communication skills, a commitment to excellence, someone who will represent EEA professionally and has a background in managing relationships on behalf of an organization or company. Must be a self-starter, very organized and experienced in managing a large client base.

Candidates must be detailed-oriented, self-motivated, must possess strong planning and organizational skills and have the personal style to work collegially with others at all levels of the organization and be a team-oriented individual.


Enthusiastic, organized person with good interpersonal skills, and highly self-motivated. Strong writer with excellent computer skills and ability to prepare budgets, plans and reports. Exceptional follow through and attention to detail. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. Bachelor’s Degree required and at least 3- 5 years of experience with a proven track record in managing a large client base. Prefer advanced degree in development or related field


$75,000.00 Per year
