This exhibit focuses on the plein air paintings done at various locations on the North Fork of Long Island, New York. Christine Dupuis feels that Long Island is blessed with bountiful farm fields and beautiful beaches, and hopes that this land will stay as fruitful as it is now. She hopes to see the plein air painting movement grow once again like it was in the days of the impressionist painters.

An avid "observer" of people best describes Christine. She is drawn to the essence of a person and usually chooses her models if she is emotionally drawn to them. They would have to tell her a story. Her choice of medium is oil paint because fo the buttery texture and rich depth of color it provides as she creates the smoothness and luminosity of the skin. Christine is trained in the classical method of the old masters and is compelled to find a way to make "old meet new" in a contemporary fashion and is attracted to the way the light truly illuminates the subject.

Artist Statement
There is something addicting about painting in the great outdoors. "Everything becomes a painting" in Christine's eyes. You may see her as you are driving by the beach, a farm stand, or an old broken building. She is emotionally drawn to her subject whether it is because of the atmospheric light or the colors reflecting on the earth. Capturing the essence of her surrounding is most important. Christine organizes a group called Island East Plein Air painters, going out weekly to various locations. Her goal is to see the plein air painting movement grow on the North Fork of Long Island where the land is plentiful. There is nothing like the feeling of being one with nature, being so absorbed in the creating process while trying to capture the very essence of the moment you are in.
