$20 credit per full-day camp week enrollment

East End Arts Studio Drawing and Painting Camp, a fun-filled Summer experience for art lovers, ages 9 - 14. During each week of Studio Art Camp, campers work closely with his or her counselor while engaging in fun projects and learning new methods and techniques of drawing and painting. Campers create observational drawings, visual journals, collage works, relief paintings, collaborative works, and more! This concentrated week of art exploration satisfies any art loving camper. Try new methods, new mediums, and express yourself creatively this Summer! All projects are tailored for all skill levels. At the end of each week, all artworks are to be displayed in a combination show during the last day of camp. Don’t miss out and register early! Camps are kept small to promote social distancing. Campers limited to 10 per cohort.


Mixed Media & Sculpture Arts Camp

In this week of 3D exploration, campers work with paper, wood, wire, and clay to create incredible sculptural art. Campers create small scale and large scale works and integrate mixed media – paint, fiber, and collage into expressive forms. EEA's campus allows for indoor and outdoor sculpting. Come join the fun! At the end of each week, all artworks are to be displayed in a combination show during the last day of camp. Don’t miss out and register early! Camps are kept small to promote social distancing. Campers limited to 10 per cohort.

This week-long Rock that Band Camp offers instrument instruction and an opportunity to play alongside your peers. All instruments are welcome, especially, electric guitar, bass, drums, vocals, and piano. Many genres are explored and campers develop skills in musicianship and have fun composing their own pieces. Practicing and performing together brings campers to the next level. At the end of each camp week, the band performs live! Knowledge of preferred instrument (any instrument) or vocal experience enhances the camp experience. Rock on!

Unexpected Discoveries Camp are one-week camp cycles over an 8-week period where campers are introduced to a broad range of artistic and creative experiences through a camp-wide theme. In this imaginative summer arts program campers will immerse themselves in art, theater, music, and dance while being inspired by this summer’s theme:
It's a Small World! Neighborhoods, Countries, Cultures, Traditions, Art & Music. Understanding the differences and celebrating the similarities.

Each day at camp includes the visual arts (painting, drawing, sculpting, and craft activities), music (singing, dancing, and exploring different instruments), and theater (stories, puppetry, role playing, and other dramatic activities). The East End Arts School offers a home-like setting with comfortable air-conditioned rooms and fenced-in, park-like grounds for outdoor play. The small group size provides for a supportive camp experience with a ton of personal attention.

It's a Small World
Camp art workshops based on children’s books that showcase the importance of being inclusive and discover different cultures that make up our world; combining art, music, and theater.

Based off the book, All are Welcome, By, Alexandra Penfold

“No matter how you start your day, what you wear when you play, or if you come from far away, all are welcome here.”

Young readers learn about different traditions celebrated around the world; discovering their similarities, not just their differences. Counselors integrate music and art from around the world in all activities.

July 12 - July 16 -- (5 -7 yrs.) & (8 - 10 yrs.) 
Based off the book, The Name Jar, By Yangsook Choi

The Name Jar is a book about acceptance and culture “that encourages children to be themselves and not be afraid or ashamed of their heritage and background.” 

Campers explore the culture of Korea and how it integrates into American culture. Counselors discuss the interpretation of the wonderful art forms and music created by that region of the world. 

July 19 - July 23 -- (5 - 7 yrs.) & (8 - 10 yrs.)
Based on the book, Lovely By, Jess Hong

“Big, small, curly, straight, loud, quiet, smooth, wrinkly, Lovely explores a world of differences that all add up to the same thing: we are all Lovely!”

Celebrating our differences with pride campers discover four regions around the world: Africa, South America, Asia, and the indigenous people of America. Counselors integrate music and art found in these regions into projects for the week.

July 26 - July 30 -- (5 - 7 yrs.) & (8 - 10 yrs.)
Based off the book, Marisol Doesn't Match By, Monica Brown

In Marisol McDonald’s world, mismatched makes perfect sense together. Lovely is “an adorable story shows children that individuality, not conformity, is where the fun abides.”

Counselors discuss multiple cultures and showcase how everyone’s best self is when they are being themselves. Campers discover different art and music from Peru, Scotland, and America, and realize there is something special about each of them.

August 2 - August 6 -- (5 - 7 yrs.) & (8 - 10 yrs.)
Based off the book, The Day You Begin By, Jacqueline Woodson

“There will be times when you walk into a room
and no one there is quite like you. … until the day you begin to share your stories.”

Campers discover that everyone is different, but special in their own way. Campers create projects based on communication through improvisation applying the context of the book to real-life situations. Counselors help campers create a small play throughout the week and include projects working with different music and creating scenery.

August 9 - August 13 -- (5 yrs. to 7 yrs.) & (8 yrs. to 10 yrs.) 
Based on the book, The Sandwich Shop By, Queen Rania

“The smallest things can pull us apart until we learn that friendship is far more powerful than the difference.”

Who doesn’t like yummy food? Campers discover different foods connected to different cultures. Projects are art and music based. Campers and counselors devote one day to celebrating food where everyone brings in a special lunch to celebrate their cultural backgrounds.

August 16 - August 20 -- (5 yrs. to 7 yrs.) & (8 yrs. to 10 yrs.) 
Based off the book, Drawn Together By, Minh Le

Express yourself through art and find a common thread.

How do you communicate when you don’t speak the same language? Campers discover how younger generations have communicated with their elder relatives and how to break down barriers. Campers learn about the land and culture of Vietnam; discovering Vietnamese art and music.

August 23 - August 27 -- (5 yrs. to 7 yrs.) & (8 yrs. to 10 yrs.) 
Based off the book, Last Stop on Market Street By, Matt De La Peña

The Caldecott and Newberry Award winning book, The Last Stop on Market Street, explores a celebration of cross-generational bonding through the art of conversation and everyday experiences.

Chatting with grandparents or elder relatives opens your eyes to different perspectives. Campers create projects that spotlight your individual family and celebrate the positive side of daily experiences.

We are pleased to offer a 10% discount for each additional child.

LOCATION
All camps are held at the East End Arts School, located at 141 East Main Street in Riverhead, NY. The School offers professional studios with comfortable air-conditioned rooms and scenic grounds for outdoor breaks and lunch.

EARLY MORNING & AFTERCARE
Early morning care is available between 8:30 - 9:00 AM
and aftercare between 3:00 - 5:00 PM.
Aftercare consists of modified camp activities.
Early Morning Care 8:30 - 9:00 AM & Aftercare 3:00 - 5:00 PM: $30 p/day or $100 p/week

STAFF
Counselors are chosen for their expertise, dedication, and enthusiasm with children. Unexpected Discoveries Creative, Arts, Music, & Theater 1-Week Summer Camp maintains a comfortable ratio of 1:6 counselors to children. Unexpected Discoveries Weekly Summer Arts & Music Camps maintain a comfortable ratio of 1:10. Our small group sizes provide for in-depth learning with personal attention and an encouraging arts camp experience.

SNACK & LUNCH
Campers bring their own snacks & lunch in an insulated container.

CAMP PERFORMANCE & ART SHOW
On the last day of each camp, campers show off their creations to family and friends. Details provided at camp.

TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.

SCHOLARSHIPS
A limited number of partial scholarships are available, based on financial need. An application can be requested by calling the School at 631-369-2171, email education@eastendarts.org or download a scholarship form. Deadline for application is May 1, 2021.

PLEASE NOTE: Camps have limited space. Campers will be registered on a first-come first-served basis. East End Arts School will maintain a waiting list for any camp that becomes full. Each camper will receive a call confirming their spot in camp a week prior to the beginning of camp.


CAMP REFUND & CREDIT POLICY

  • If you notify East End Arts before May 15, you can receive a 75% refund, less an administration fee of $15.00.
  • If you notify East End Arts less than one month (30 days) but at least two weeks (14 days) before the start of that specific camp week, you can receive 50% refund, less an administration fee of $15.00.
  • If you notify East End Arts less than two weeks (14 days) before the start of that specific camp week, you may receive a 50% credit on your East End Arts account.
  • Once a program begins, we cannot make any adjustments or offer any credit.
